Doctor Who: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Michelle Gomez

9. She Shares A Birthday With The Queen

It doesn't really get much better than celebrating your birthday on the same day as the Monarch to the Great British Empire. The historic day in question is 21st April which Gomez was born on in 1966. Her father Tony, originally from Monterrsat, was a photographer, while her mother, May, ran a modelling agency in Glasgow called Browns Inc. They met after Tony moved to Edinburgh to attend Fettes College and May attended one of his shows. Her Majesty was born exactly four decades earlier in 1926 and had already assumed her position on the Royal Throne, succeeding her Father King George VI in 1953 following his sudden death. And we're sure Gomez is fully aware of the potent weapon she has in her conversational arsenal. Sharing a birthday with the Queen is the single most flawless put-down to break out when someone is boasting that a movie star, a famous musician or a sports person was born on the same day as them. Who can rival the Queen, the ruler of the entire country? Sure, Gomez could play it low key and quietly mention that her day of birth corresponds to that of Iggy Pop. But who would even do that?
