Doctor Who: 10 Times Captain Jack Died And Lived To Tell The Tale

1. Blown To Smithereens

You'd probably already guessed that this one would make the top of the list. As Jack's most gruesome death to date, it was also one of the most memorable moments from Torchwood's critically acclaimed third series, Children of Earth, and not only because it culminated in John Barrowman being naked in a quarry. When a mysterious alien intelligence known as the 456 took over the children of earth (once again the clue was in the title - they really spell it out for us, don't they?), Torchwood was targeted by a team of ruthless special agents who were ordered to assassinate Jack and his team by any means possible. It would later transpire that the Captain had been directly involved in a past government-approved negotiation with the 456 and he had been marked for death in case the secret came out. What followed was a somewhat unorthodox approach in the ploy to dispose of Jack once and for all. They shot him (though, let's face it, Jack was used to that form of attack by now) then planted a bomb in his stomach which blew the Hub - and not to mention Jack himself - to smithereens. Only a few of Jack's remains were obtained from the wreckage and, after his body slowly but surely returned to its original form (above), he then came close to being contained in cement but he was thankfully saved at the last minute by Gwen and Ianto. What a day. He get's knocked down but he always gets back up again and this is one Captain you're never gonna be able to keep down. What do you think of this list? Are there any other of Jack's deaths that you find particularly memorable that weren't included in the countdown? Leave your comments below.
