Regeneration is always a sad moment in Doctor Who. It's when fans say goodbye to their current Doctor before another version of him takes over the reigns. In Classic Who, regenerations were relatively quick affairs. Once the regeneration process began, the departing Doctor had a few minutes at most to deliver his final lines before the new guy came along. In NuWho, however, the regeneration scenes have been a bit longer. And, surprise surprise, the Tenth Doctor's has been the longest. In fact, he had a record 20 minutes of screen time from when his regeneration actually began. During this (which was who knows how long in the Whoniverse), he visited many of his previous companions in one form or another to say his final goodbyes, or to help them out one last time. No other Doctor felt the need to revisit each of his companions before their regeneration, no other Doctor had the time to revisit all of them, yet for some reason the Tenth Doctor felt he could and should do this, for reasons unknown other than to make his parting words ("I don't want to go") even more heart-wrenching than they would be if he had simply popped his clogs when he got doused with the radiation in the first place. What did you think of this list? Do you agree/disagree that the Tenth Doctor wasn't all he was cracked up to be? Join the conversation - for or against - in the comments section below!
