Doctor Who: 10 Villains Who Should Return For Russell T Davies' New Series

7. The Slitheen

Speaking of RTD making fun of politicians, it's been a fair old while since everyone's favourite farting aliens, the Slitheen family - or indeed, the Raxacoricofallapatorian species in general - have been the focus of a Whoniverse story.

They had a cameo in The End of Time: Part 2, but their last proper Doctor Who adventure was all the way back in Series 1's Boom Town, where Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen (Margaret Blaine for short) was turned into an egg after regressing back along her own timeline.

This ending left the door open for a followup story where we saw what became of Margaret in her second shot at life, but this story never materialised. It was explored in the comics - and RTD even came close to including Margaret in The Stolen Earth - but onscreen, it's a lingering plot thread that would be cool to revisit.

Sure, it does feel like the Slitheen have run out of steam as bog-standard villains, but catching up with Margaret would be an interesting route to take. Plus, actress Annette Badland just reminded us how awesome she is with her role in Ted Lasso, so letting her loose in Doctor Who again would be very fun to see.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
