Doctor Who: 10 Weirdest Moments From The Classic Series

1. Wait,Who's That Laying Where The Doctor Fell Down? What The Hell Is Going On?

01regen We've become so used to the idea over the last 50 years that I think we've all forgotten one essential truth. The single, hands down, weirdest thing that Doctor Who ever showed us by a country mile was the day that The Doctor, the One and Only Doctor, laid down and died. Out of the blue. And then a stranger in different clothes who didn't look a thing like him and certainly didn't act remotely like him asked us to believe that he was the same character, but different. And that everything was going to be just fine and he was still the same person, really. Except he wasn't. And even stranger than that? We believed him. Can you even imagine how unfathomable that must have been to people watching in 1966? Clearly the weirdest thing we've ever seen, just like the show was intended to do. We've just gotten so used to it that we've forgotten how utterly, ridiculously, fantastically insane it really was. Those are mine. I'm sure you have different choices. I look forward, as ever, to reading your comments.

Mikey is, in no particular order, a freelance writer, improvisational comedian, volunteer firefighter, playwright, Bon Vivant, and Jane Espenson enthusiast. Born in the small mining town of Eden Prairie, MN, he has some 40 years later successfully moved about 20 miles north of there to the City of Brooklyn Center, MN where he lives with an unreasonable number of dogs.
