The Weeping Angels made their long-awaited return in the two-part story The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone.

The Doctor and Amy join up with River, Jorah Mormont, and a group of soldiers (who are also clerics, because sure why not) to track down a missing Angel in the wreck of the Byzantium spaceship.

The gang travels through a system of caves to reach the downed ship, passing a number of statues along the way. The Doctor and River comment on them, remarking that they must be the Aplans, the creatures native to this area... until they realise that the Aplans have two heads. And the statues only have one.

Ruh-roh.

It turns out that the statues - all of them - are Weeping Angels as well. This leads to a whole mess of trouble, and the deaths of every single one of the clerics. Poor Bob.

Imagine forgetting a thing like that? With all the brainpower the Doctor possesses, you'd think he'd notice something like a head missing from a load of statues.

This is a huge blunder on his part - one with fatal consequences.
