Yes, you read that one right. A very recent revelation, it turns out while Sylvester McCoy was playing the role on our screens with the show was just a year away from cancellation, Paramount began exploring the idea of a big-screen, US-flavoured reboot of the series. Settling on the self-styled Peter Pan of Pop as their potential Timelord, who was reportedly interested in the role, Paramount has also apparently considered Bill Crosby as an option. Leaving you with that thought, between 1989 and failed McGann pilot in 1996, several other possible movie Timelords were suggested as the rights moved from one studio to another including the possibility of, at one point, Pierce Brosnan taking the role. Also in 1991, a writer called Johnny Byrne wrote a feature film screenplay for Greenlight Productions, entitled Doctor Who: The Last Of The Timelords. Now, where might you have heard that before...?
