Doctor Who: 11 Beloved Characters Who Were Only In One Episode

1. Sally Sparrow

Because one off Doctor Who guest stars don't get much better than this! Fans were left feeling somewhat dubious when it was revealed that Series 3 would play host to another 'Doctor-lite' offering (since the first, Series 2's Love & Monsters, was universally panned before it had even finished airing) but they were pleasantly surprised - and then some - when Carey Mulligan was enlisted as the episode's leading lady. The actress took on her role as Sally Sparrow with so much gusto that she is widely cited as the greatest Doctor Who companion who never was (a prestigious title, to say the least) and it helped that the award-winning story pitted her up against one of the show's most acclaimed and popular adversaries, the Weeping Angels, who were also making their Whoniversal debut. Needless to say, the episode was a blinkin' success and fans have been calling for Sally's return ever since. Unfortunately (for us, at least!), her real life alter ago has been a bit busy doing unimportant things like getting nominated for Oscars and sharing the big screen with Leonardo DiCaprio to commit to any sort of comeback any time soon. What did you think of this list? Are there any other beloved Doctor Who characters who left a lasting impression after appearing in one episode? Add to our list in the comments section below!
