Doctor Who: 11 Beloved Characters Who Were Only In One Episode

11. Jabe

Introduced in Series 1's The End of the World as one of the passengers aboard Platform One, this representative of the Forest of Cheem - played by Yasmin Bannerman - was just another alien eagerly awaiting the destruction of planet Earth until a certain Time Lord caught her eye. She took an immediate liking to the Ninth Doctor, and vice versa, and was the first character on screen to empathise with our guilt ridden hero regarding the recent loss of his home planet and species (at this point, viewers were effectively none the wiser about the climactic events of the Time War, although Jabe's reaction would suggest that they were the only ones!). It was seemingly the start of a beautiful friendship but things went from bad to worse for Jabe when she... you know, burned to death. But if a tree disintegrates in a ball of flames in the year 5 billion, does it make a sound? Well, yes, apparently, and it was the sound of millions of Whovian hearts breaking. If things had gone differently, perhaps she could've branched - *ahem* - out and got her own spin off, since at one point they were practically giving them away. It was fun while it lasted.
