2. The 6th Doctor €“ Vengeance On Varos

6272 The 6th incarnation of the Doctor gets a bad rap, maybe unfairly, but that is mostly due to bad writing and low budgets. However good he may have been, it is hard to find any really stand out episodes. Vengeance On Varos has a lot going for it though. Varos is a world where political prisoners and politician's lives alike are controlled by the populace through reality television. The Doctor, along with Peri, stop off to fix the always undependable TARDIS, and find themselves wrongly accused of helping the rebels. It's showtime! While only two episodes long, this story has a fantastic cliffhanger, which shows just how good the Colin Baker era could have been, had it been given a chance by fans and the BBC. It also introduces us to the diminutive Sil, who would return in a later 6th Doctor serial, Mindwarp. While not a perfect episode by any means, it has everything you need from Doctor Who.
