Doctor Who: 12 Big Questions About Ashildr's Episodes

7. And What Will Happen To The Doctor When He Loses His 'Conscience?'

Whether Clara dies or not, the impact is sure to be huge on the Doctor. We saw in Under The Lake that she had even created prompt cards to help him interact with other humans in a moment of crisis and in The Girl Who Died she was the one who counselled him into agreeing to help the villagers fight the Mire. Last season we saw the Doctor take the long path back to becoming the hero of his earlier selves and last week's episode did address the reason he chose that face; to remind him to save people. It was a mystery that didn't necessarily need answers but it did prove how far he had come. Clara's death - or departure - will certainly have traumatic consequences for him but it remains to be seen if his journey has prepared him enough to continue the good fight without her.
