Doctor Who: 12 Cool Details Revealed In Steven Moffat's Blink Commentary

3. The Angels Attacking The TARDIS Was Tricky To Edit (And It Was Shortened At The Last Minute)

There are several spooky shots and sequences scattered throughout the entirety of Blink, but one of the best is the bit where the lights start flickering in the basement and the Angels advance on the TARDIS, striking a variety of devilish poses along the way.

This climactic scene manages to be pacy and energetic without feeling rushed, and while still maintaining that intensity that's palpable throughout the entire third act. In short, it works really darn well, and that's probably because the production team spent a lot of time tweaking it to get it just right.

Moffat revealed that it took "several goes" in the edit suite to make the sequence work, and in addition, it was even shortened "at the last minute". As it stands, the scene feels like the perfect length, so that final tweak was clearly for the best.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
