Doctor Who: 12 Cool Details Revealed In Steven Moffat's Blink Commentary

1. Moffat Deliberately Made The Doctor’s Final Scene As Weird As Possible

The episode concludes with an extremely satisfying scene in which Sally finally meets the Doctor - in the flesh.

Because he's a time traveller though, his encounter with the Weeping Angels (and his DVD easter egg message to Sally) hasn't happened to him yet. At this point in his own timeline, he's off on a completely different adventure, with Martha in tow.

And the few details we get about this adventure are rather odd, to say the least. We see the Doctor carrying a bow, we hear Martha talk about "migration", and we hear the Doctor mention a "lizard". It sounds very Doctor Who, but still, very bonkers.

And funnily enough, the reason why this unseen adventure sounds so strange and random is because it was designed to be. Moffat said that he purposefully threw in as many "disparate elements" as possible, just so he could dial up the kookiness.

Mission accomplished on that front.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
