9. How Were They All In The Same Dream?
Because Steven Moffat said so, all right!? Just kidding. The Dream Crabs are obviously extremely intelligent creatures and as such they don't only just send their victims into a dream like state but they're also able to control the landscape of it, too. The characters had no reason to suspect it was all fake - after all, you don't question a dream whilst you're part of it, no matter how outlandish it may seem. Interestingly, though, Shona refused to accept Santa as the real deal which suggests her subconscious is much harder to fool. That still doesn't explain why they were all part of the same dream, though. The Dream Crabs connected them for some reason but what that reason was is anyone's guess. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. It's lucky, really, that the Doctor was there to point out the irregularities of their surroundings, which is something the Dream Crabs probably weren't expecting. It was the little oddities - such as the fact the manual read differently for each of the characters - that made them realise they were all pawns in a much bigger game. Once they'd accepted they were dreaming, half the work was done for them and they all started to wake back up into their respective lives.
