Doctor Who: 13 Cool Details Revealed In Steven Moffat's Time Of Angels Commentary
4. The Angels Are Capable Of Moving Their Wings
The first time we see the Angels move is in Flesh And Stone, but at one point in time, we came close to seeing them move in this episode as well.
About thirty minutes in, there's a quick shot of an Angel's shadow set against a stone wall. In the finished episode, the shadow remains stationary, but originally, it was going to stretch its wings, an effect that the crew pulled off by using a cardboard cutout.
During the commentary, Moffat mentions that the shot was like this for quite a long time, but ultimately, it was decided to not show the Angel move - mainly because the effect looked a bit naff, but also because there were conversations about whether or not it made sense as an idea.
But if you still consider this a part of your own head-canon, then it means that the Weeping Angels are capable of moving their stony wings. In Flesh And Stone, they only move their heads and arms, so this is sort of a "new" ability for the Angels.
Pretty useless ability though, to be honest. Unless... surely not. Can Weeping Angels somehow fly? Now that would be an interesting episode. Oi Chibnall!
