As with most of the other recent Doctor Who watch-alongs, some of the people who made the main episode have reunited to create an extra little scene for us, and this one serves as a sequel to The Fires of Pompeii.

Called The Descendants of Pompeii, this Moran-penned, lockdown-themed minisode stars Tracey Childs and Francesca Fowler (who played Caecilius' wife and daughter, respectively, in the main episode) as ancestors of Caecilius, discussing the fact that they might have a "guardian angel" watching over them.

Then, at the end of the scene, an "additional caller" - hinted to be the Doctor - is revealed to have been lurking in their video chat the whole time. Spooky.

Obviously the production values aren't very high here, but it's still amazing that we're getting brand-new Doctor Who content like this, over a decade after The Fires of Pompeii was first broadcast. If only they could've persuaded Capaldi to return too.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
