One thing Moffat isn't know for is his linear storytelling, and fittingly, The Day Of The Doctor bounces around between several different timelines, characters, and locations.

But the final layout of the episode took a lot of time to get right, and at one point in time, Moffat toyed around with the idea of introducing the three main Doctors in a completely different order.

The writer tweeted that an earlier version of the script started with John Hurt's War Doctor, before moving onto David Tennant's Tenth Doctor, and finally landing on Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor.

In the end though, this idea was scrapped, and Moffat chose to start with Eleven - mainly because he was the star of the show at the time the episode aired.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
