Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The Ninth Doctor

2. Eccleston Wants To Return For The 100th Anniversary Special

With the recent announcement that Eccleston is officially returning to Doctor Who for some Big Finish audio dramas, there's a slim chance that the Ninth Doctor will appear in the upcoming 60th anniversary special in 2023 - assuming we get one.

Doctors Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen - make it happen, BBC.

Our hopes and dreams aside, Eccleston has actually talked about returning for a Doctor Who anniversary at some point in the future, and what's more, he even has a specific one in mind: the 100th, which will happen in 2063.

At that point, Eccleston will be 99 years old, but in 2013, he did state (semi-jokingly, of course), that he would return for the 100th anniversary with his sonic and his stair lift in tow, vowing to save the universe, and all of the "apes" residing within it.

Hey BBC... make this happen too.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
