Doctor Who: 24 Doctors Ranked From Worst To Best

3. The Tenth Doctor

Just as Tom Baker bestrode the classic series, David Tennant remains the NuWho Doctor that others are measured against. With Eccleston only managing the first year, Tennant quickly become the Doctor in the eyes of the public, cemented by a turn that was light, brave, assured and engaging. His era remains the one to watch if you like your Who fun, fast paced and enjoyable. Tennant is also a generous actor. Yes, the Doctor is the star but he made sure that his companions and co-stars also had a chance to shine. His Doctor was one who had a lust for life and new experiences, quick with a quip and a smile but also one who could be a dangerous and formidable adversary if crossed. In many ways, Doctor Ten was also more human, falling in love with Rose and crying for the loss of the Master, finding himself once more alone in the Universe. Stories such as Midnight, Human Nature and Blink are as good as any in the entire series. Above all else, Tennant's Doctor, with his energy and enthusiasm, suited the type of Doctor Who that showrunner Russell T Davies wanted to tell. Like Letts with Pertwee or Hinchcliffe with Baker, this was a perfect pairing that produced some of the most popular Doctor Who ever.
