Doctor Who: 30 NuWho Characters Who Would've Made Fantastic Full-Time Companions

24. Tim Latimer

Doctor Who Blink
BBC Studios

Appeared in: Human Nature/The Family of Blood.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster's character is neatly developed throughout. We warmed to Latimer immediately when we see him being downtrodden by Baines and Hutchinson. Then it turns to intrigue when he displays psychic abilities, allowing him to hear the Doctor's true essence from the Time Lord's fob watch, and also give him a crash course on the numerous monsters the Doctor has faced. All of which Latimer describes so eloquently:

"He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe. And he's wonderful."

Most importantly, It also lets him see into the devastating future of World War I, where Latimer heroically saves the life of Hutchinson. Thankfully, Latimer survives the monsters of war, which is poignantly shown at a Remembrance Day service.
