2. Cigar Adverts
http://youtu.be/xWqoB6Ujj80 This ones very creepy when you start thinking about it which is probably why it was never broadcast. Prepare yourself for something you never thought youd see: a cigar advert starring a Dalek. Okay I know this was a different time but really? Daleks being used to advertise cigars? Leaving aside the fact that a Dalek would be physically unable to pick up a cigar let alone smoke it, you really have to question what was going through the heads of the marketing execs who dreamed this one up. Although Doctor Who is a family show, its primary audience is children. That has never been in dispute (apart from very angrily on the internet). So why in the name of Rassilon did Hamlets advertising department think a Dalek was a good marketing tool? I have two theories: One is that they were trying to make people equate Daleks with cigars and net themselves future customers who were young Doctor Who fans (Blimey, thats starting to sound like a Doctor Who story itself) or that theyd never seen Doctor Who but knew that Daleks were popular so they decided to borrow one and give it a cigar. Or maybe the Daleks latest plan is to conquer the Earth by giving everyone lung cancer and a crippling nicotine dependency. Its much easier to invade a planet if the bloke whos supposed to fire nuclear missiles at you has nipped out for a quick smoke.
