Doctor Who: 5 Great Ninth Doctor Stories

3. Dalek (Story 161, 2005)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd28yBi9tU0 I€™m not going to lie. Part of why €œRose€ and €œBad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways€ are on here is because of their importance to the great Doctor Who arc. Had they not been as big of a deal as they were, they wouldn€™t be on here. But €œDalek€, based on a Big Finish Sixth Doctor audio story named €œJubilee€, earns its place of note. It€™s a tense, sometimes terrifying story that shows what a single Dalek could do. It€™s so powerful and effective that one really wonders how anyone has ever managed to fight back against them and win. It€™s also got one of the most amazing shots in the series of the show where we see the Dalek in the sunbeam. Plus the scene on Eccleston€™s face when the Dalek says, €œDoctor€? THE Doctor?€ is so very incredible. The Daleks have never before, or, sadly, never again, been as well-utilized as they were here.
