Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Clara Should Stay (And 5 Reasons She Shouldn't)

3. Male Companion, Anyone?

Amyandrory When David Tennant and Matt Smith were in the roles of the Doctor, their companions were typically female. On occasion a male would accompany them, of course, but they would always be more of a "tag-a-long" than the Doctor actually choosing them to come aboard. The current Doctor, however, isn't the spring chicken that the previous two actors who were. As such, perhaps having a younger male on board the TARDIS would help the Doctor out to make Series 9 a bit more action-packed than Peter Capaldi's debut run in the TARDIS? Many fans have noted the irony of a man who travels through all of time and space always settling on a 20-30 something girl in modern day England. For a few episodes at least, it looked like there might be a chance to that tradition when the two prior versions of Clara were introduced before the present day one. However, both of those versions met their demise before they could become a fully fledged companion.
