Doctor Who: 5 Things We Don't Want To See In The 50th Anniversary Special

1. The Twelfth Doctor

Peter Capaldi Dw Live Possibly because of Steven Moffat's fondness for plot twists, deception, and pulling the rug out from under the viewers, some Whovians are speculating that the Anniversary Special will either include a cameo from the Twelfth Doctor in some way, or end with the shock Regeneration of the Eleventh Doctor. Neither of those should happen. Although I respect Peter Capaldi as an actor and am anticipating his first appearance as much as anyone else, the Twelfth Doctor is the one thing that should have no connection to the 50th Anniversary whatsoever simply because it's not his story and including him would just be a cheap way of teasing Series 8. Such an important episode shouldn't be another Doctor's first appearance (and I'm not counting the Hurt Doctor in that) because a new Doctor's first true appearance should be setting up his character and his relationship with the Doctor Who universe and its inhabitants rather than being part of an episode that has the purpose of celebrating everything that came before him. And even if he only crops up at the end, Twelve will draw focus away from the episode itself. It won't be just "That brilliant episode that paid tribute to fifty years of adventures through time and space" and will be equally if not better known as "The first time we saw the Twelfth Doctor". The Twelfth Doctor's time will come at Christmas. For now, Doctor Who should be about the present and past Doctors. What don't you want to see in the 50th Anniversary Special? Leave a comment...
