Arguably even more so than Clara's resurrection, the most significant change this episode makes to Doctor Who lore is the return of the Time Lords. Apart from extended roles in The End Of Time and The Day Of The Doctor, for the past ten years of the modern series the Time Lords have only been talked about or featured in cameos. Now Steven Moffat has apparently decided that enough is enough and returned the Doctor's people to the Doctor Who universe. So are they back for good? Will we have the Doctor popping to Gallifrey now and then or being sent on missions for the Time Lords just as would often happen in the classic series? This episode doesn't seem to suggest that Gallifrey is time locked at the end of the universe, but perhaps that is the case and the Doctor can't actually go back there without going the "long way round" again. For now, who knows? But this is surely a question that will have to be addressed next year. Hurry up, Series Ten!
