Doctor Who: 7 Reasons Why Peter Davison Was The Best Doctor
It has been observed a time or two and in many quarters that the one you identify as 'Your Doctor' is by and large whoever was The Doctor when you were 12. Indeed, David Tennant demonstrated this as recently as Time Crash (which if you somehow missed you should absolutely go and watch it right now, because it's lovely). Taking the Britain to US Public TV transmission delay into account, that makes my Doctor firmly Peter Davison. As indeed he is. Peter Davison will always be my favorite Doctor. Partially because he was the first Doctor I saw at the time that I was 12, partially because I genuinely enjoy his take on the character, and partially because of his public attitude toward the series both then and since which has consistently been a model of how to be enthusiastic and supportive while not making any of it about yourself. * *As a side note, this is also the factor that slightly sours my appreciation for the Eccleston Doctor, but that's another topic for another day Indeed, his 'Aw shucks, it's nice to be remembered but look how great the new stuff is' sort of attitude is exactly the of character trait that makes me like his Doctor so much. But enough of my personal love note to the Davison years - Down to business. There are some points which are fixed. Which define and color all the moments around them. These are the moments of the Davison Years that make it my favorite. I've selected seven fixed points of the Davison era that must always stand. I know, I know - the obvious thing was to pick five of them. But that leads to the implication that one must have Eight fixed points in the Paul McGann telefilm, and further - that there is only one notable moment in the William Hartnell era. And that is clearly crazy talk. As always, your mileage may (and should) vary
