Doctor Who: 7 Showrunners Who Should Take Over After Steven Moffat

6. Tom MacRae

Tom-macrae Tom MacRae is already a veteran of writing for Doctor Who, having penned three episodes for the revived series. His first two were a continuous story which served to reintroduce the Cybermen - "Rise of the Cybermen" and "The Age of Steel". While the look of the re-introduced Cybermen had a lukewarm response, the two episodes got a generally good review, eventually being named as the 68th best story in the show's history. Not too bad out of 200 (at that time). However, he took his writing to a new level in 2011, when he wrote "The Girl Who Waited", which turned out to be not only one of the best stories from the sixth series, but one of the best 11th Doctor episodes.
