Doctor Who: 8 Reasons Why River Song HAS To Come Back!

7. "There's Always A Loophole"

Doctor Who River Song Goodbye Sweetie

Taking River’s own words from the final moments of The Husbands of River Song, more often than not, there is always some sort of loophole in the world of Doctor Who. Now, obviously, in this particular episode, the Doctor does indeed reveal a massive loophole which will be covered in more detail later on in this list but in terms of bringing River back, there is another potential solution that is just waiting to be explored!

Starting simply, in The Name of The Doctor, River appears as the data ghost trapped in The Library’s memory core. If she has appeared in this form before, what’s to stop her from appearing in it again? Granted she was mentally linked to Clara’s mind, but the Doctor insists that he can always see her so really there’s no reason why she can’t appear to him, or her, as a ‘vision’ in the future?

Beyond that, it’s hard to believe that once he figured out a way to save her data ghost with the sonic screwdriver, he’d just leave it at that and give up. As the woman he loves, surely it’s logical that he wouldn’t stop trying to find a way to bring her back to full existence.

In Doctor Who, anything is possible and this seems to be a loophole that gets overlooked!
