Doctor Who: 8 Reasons Why The Tenth Doctor And Rose Suck

5. The Meta-Crisis Was Meta-Annoying

And the Doctor's convenient solution to fixing Rose's universal dilemma is, "Why not make a cloned version of myself?". After all, she only cares about the good looks. While this may be true, fans were hoping that the Doctor, as he is morally driven and unfathomably clever, would be slightly less shallow than his human companion. Journey's End was certainly the end of an era as many overriding lose threads were resolved, primarily Rose's ongoing infatuation with the Tenth Doctor. Generally, the Meta-Crisis being Rose's surrogate love interest left many fan girls satisfied. Rose and the pseudo-Doctor could age together and snog for all eternity in their bubble universe, but at what expense? The DoctorDonna phenomenon literally manufactured a human Time Lord that was like the Doctor in all aspects (well, except for missing a heart), but he wasn't really our familiar, friendly Doctor, was he? Only an empty shell with Ten's physical attributes, intended to fulfill the plot's purpose. One would like to imagine that Rose admired the Doctor because of his chaotic, adventure-filled life and incurable addiction to stepping out of the TARDIS doors, expecting the unexpected. Or his strong moral ethics, that deterred him from resorting to violence. The Meta-Crisis had neither the time nor ability to develop these traits. After Journey's End, fans find ourselves longing for a glimpse of the Doctor and Rose's whimsically simple yet meaningful interactions throughout Series 2 (minus Doomsday), all of which epitomised their relationship, just knocking about various planets on a whim, enjoying themselves, and snickering together after nearly puncturing a hole in the fabric of time (they'd find a way, no doubt).

Anna is an aspiring writer who has an incurable obsession with Doctor Who. When she is not writing about Doctor Who, she's watching favorite episodes and contemplating what to write next. When she's writing about Doctor Who, she anticipates her reward: watching yet another Doctor Who episode. She also manages to read science fiction (especially Ray Bradbury), recite lines from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and make terrible puns in her free time (she likes to imagine she has great puntential, though)
