Doctor Who: 8 Theories About Ryan And Graham's Departure In Revolution Of The Daleks

Is it a coincidence that Chibnall is bringing back Captain Jack Harkness in the same episode that marks the departure of Ryan and Graham? Or are both of these seemingly unconnected plot threads part of the same master plan?

As we mentioned, Ryan and Graham have been with the Doctor for quite a long time, and they've probably developed a lust for adventure because of this. So, what if a scenario plays out where they're no longer able to travel with the Doctor, but they are able to travel with Captain Jack?

This is just wild speculation at this point, but since Chibnall supposedly has a five-year plan for the show, perhaps his inclusion of Jack in Series 12 was him laying the groundwork for not only Jack's return, but for Ryan and Graham's exit too.

Building off this, perhaps the three characters could band together to get Torchwood back up and running, or maybe a smaller, Torchwood-esque organisation, one whose function is to investigate and control alien threats. Chibnall wrote tons of Torchwood back in the mid-2000s, so it wouldn't be a shock if he brought it back somehow.
