Doctor Who: 8 Times The Doctor Has Killed

5. He Left Solomon To Be Blown Up By Missiles

Doctor Who Peter Capaldi
BBC

While investigating a Silurian spacecraft that's infested with a variety of dinosaurs, the Doctor stumbles across Solomon, a man who's trapped aboard the vessel due to his legs being mauled by raptors.

Solomon is a pretty nasty dude: he had previously killed all the Silurians (which is why the ship is deserted, save for its dinosaur cargo) in order to take the dinosaurs for himself and sell them on. He then takes Nefertiti - the Doctor's friend - and holds her hostage, intending to sell her on too. The Doctor obviously doesn't take a liking to him, and it's the Time Lord who ultimately wins out when he leaves Solomon to be blown up by a wave of missiles.

The Silurian ship is on a collision course with Earth, and for this reason, the ISA (Indian Space Agency) will destroy it if it gets within ten thousand kilometres of their planet. Eventually they make good on their word and fire off a bunch of missiles, which leaves the Doctor in a bit of a pickle: how can he fend off a number of deadly homing explosives?

His rather ruthless solution was to force the missiles to lock onto Solomon's ship, allowing the Doctor, his friends, and the dinosaurs to survive. Was Solomon a bit of an arse? Yes. Did he deserve such cold treatment? Well... possibly. But whatever happened to the Doctor's signature compassion?
