Doctor Who: 8 Ways To Pass The Time Until November

5. Doctor Who Novels

doctor who novels Great googly-moogly, there are a lot of these. Not only are there a huge amount of Doctor Who books available, there are several different kinds of Doctor Who books. Let's review a few of them, shall we? Virgin New Adventures: This series was published monthly from 1991 to 1999, and featured further journeys of the Seventh Doctor, his companion Ace, and a new companion named Bernice Summerfield. After a staggering 84 books, the series finally ended. This line of books also shows early Doctor Who work from numerous writers who would later do work for the revived television series, including Mark Gatiss, Russell T. Davies, Paul Cornell, and Gareth Roberts. Virgin Missing Adventures: After the New Adventures line proved successful, it was complemented by the Missing Adventures series, which featured stories with the First through Sixth Doctors (and one with the Seventh). Like the New Adventures series, it was usually published once a month, between 1994 and 1997. New Series Adventures: After the success of the revived series, the BBC commissioned a series of novels featuring the new Doctors. There's usually six new novels published per year (some exceptions) and feature the current Doctor and usually the current companion. So far, there have been 54 of them. In addition to these, there a few other series of Doctor Who novels (such as Eighth Doctor adventures) and also novelisations of many of the stories from the Classic series.
