Doctor Who: 9 Funniest Episodes Of The Revived Series

9. Love & Monsters

OK, so you're probably laughing at this one for all the wrong reasons, but it still deserves to be mentioned. It's a widely acknowledged fact that Love & Monsters is the worst episode in Doctor Who history (if, that is, you even regard it as an episode at all...) and that's largely down to the fact that it was the show's first 'Doctor-lite' offering which basically means that the main character (you know, the one who everyone tunes in for?) isn't even in it. Like... at all. He had a good reason, though, as David Tennant and Billie Piper were filming another episode at the same time, and something tells us they're both glad they got to miss out on this one anyway. Whilst the stars of our show were off double-banking (to use the technical term), fans were introduced to Marc Warren as Elton Pope, an ordinary - *ahem* - bloke who was obsessed with the Doctor for some reason so set up an elite group of people (including a girl from Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and that ghost who always moans in Harry Potter) who each had their own reason for wanting to track the Time Lord down. They weren't the only ones, either, because the viewers were soon desperate to see him again, too! It didn't help matters that 'L.I.N.D.A' seemingly forgot what their purpose was halfway through the episode and started painting pictures and hosting ELO karaoke sessions instead. That's why this episode is so damned funny - because it just doesn't make any sense. If Jackie Tyler waving her knickers above her head doesn't make you giggle, the sight of Peter "Garlic bread!?" Kay with a mohawk dressed up as a green absorbing monster wearing a nappy oughta do it. If not, you should probably consider therapy.
