As the days draw closer to the Christmas Special, Last Christmas, more and more fans believe that this will be Clara Oswald's last adventure onboard the TARDIS. If that happens to be true, the Doctor never seems to be alone for very long. With the recent reveal that the Series 9 premiere episode is titled The Magician's Apprentice, many fans are speculating that the Doctor does indeed gain a new travelling companion as Peter Capaldi's get-up resembles a magician of sorts, and 'apprentice' could be alluding to a new companion. Another rumour is that Clara decides to become fully invested in traveling with the Doctor and literally becomes his apprentice (i.e. a Time-Lord in training), which would be an interesting direction for the character. Whether Clara stays or goes (and you can see 5 reasons supporting each outcome here), welcoming another companion aboard the TARDIS is never a bad thing. The more the merrier, as they say. It is meant to be piloted by six people, after all.
