Doctor Who: All 40 Steven Moffat Episodes Ranked From Worst To Best

Who's that girl? Why, it's only Clara! Naturally, each and every one of us was completely taken aback by her appearance because it's not like we've become used to Moffat not killing characters off in a straightforward manner. Moreover, this negates the dramatically raw impact of seeing Clara resolutely confronting her own death in Face the Raven. Quite the Impossible Girl indeed.
Ohila's "one so loves fireworks" description of the Doctor's messiahlike homecoming begins spectacularly enough: engaging the attack eyebrows against a menacing gunship in annoyance at having been rudely disturbed whilst eating his soup.
The fundamental characteristics of the Doctor are perfectly encapsulated by what follows. His response to being ordered to return to the Citadel? Simply mark a line in the sand. Facing a firing squad? Remain calmly unbowed - "The first thing you will notice about the Doctor of War is he's unarmed. For many, it's also the last."
Incidentally, just think how electric it would've been had Timothy Dalton's all fire and fury - and spitting - Rassilon had squared up to Capaldi's Rebel Time Lord.
However after the fireworks, this disappointingly fizzles into more of a dragging out the closing of the Clara epoch. Because before you know it, Rassilon has been unceremoniously exiled and the explanation as to how Gallifrey unfroze itself from the parallel pocket universe is casually skirted around.
Regarding the mystery surrounding the Hybrid, it's probably best summed up using Clara's words from earlier on in the episode: was I supposed to understand any of that?
