Doctor Who: All 40 Steven Moffat Episodes Ranked From Worst To Best
22. Let's Kill Hitler
Sooo let's get this straight(ish): the rebellious Mels plays cupid in the most wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey way imaginable for best friends Amy and Rory because it turns out she's actually their daughter. A fact which becomes even more startling when Mels regenerates into the Amy and Rory daughter incarnation that they, the Doctor and we have come to recognise. Indeed, River does seem to have a touch of the Meg Ryan's immediately after regenerating.
Perhaps a punch from Rory will knock some sense into it? After all, kick-ass Rory uppercuts and humiliates Hitler for the good of humanity. Go Rory!
Alex Kingston plays the post-regenerative River to a psychopathic tee with wild spontaneity and killer seduction, the latter which the dapper Doctor averts just in time thanks to River giving him the ultimate kiss of life.
However it's the Doctor and his one true love TARDIS that are in perfect unison yet again when saving Amy and Rory: the Doctor's desperate pleas for help whilst in his death throes elicit sympathy from River, who then manages to materialise the ship around her parents before they get zapped by the robotic-looking jellyfish. When she tells them that "I seem to be able to fly her. She showed me how. She taught me. The Doctor says I'm the child of the TARDIS", it conjures up memories of the brilliant Suranne Jones from The Doctor's Wife.
The Teselecta is an interesting and fun idea which evinces an abundance of moral and ethical questions. Although we all want to see the episode of JFK's rewritten timeline.
