Doctor Who: Are The 11th Doctor And Clara Oswald in Love?

rings of akhaten Basically, yes. For the record, I have not now, nor will I ever, give my allegiance to a "ship" fandom. I watch shows for a variety of things, one of which is a good romantic relationship. This article is not arguing for the primacy of one ship over another, and I have no intention of getting involved in ship-to-ship warfare. And another thing: I know that the issue of whether the Doctor should have romantic relationships at all is far from settled among devoted fans. I understand that the previous Doctor was decidedly asexual, but the fact of the matter is that, ever since the reboot, the Doctor has almost always been involved in one romantic relationship or another. The Doctor€™s idea of the words €œbeauty€ and €œsexy€ may not quite match up with ordinary definitions of the word, but the man€™s been married three times in the last four years. He€™s a time lord, but he€™s also a boy time lord. Now that all that€™s out of the way: are the Doctor and his latest companion, Clara Oswin Oswald, in love? This idea has been creeping up across the internet, and based on the number of hits my own personal blog gets from people asking this question (thanks for that, Moffat&Co!), a lot of people are really confused. What has been building between the Doctor and Clara over the course of her time on the show is a decidedly romantic relationship. It€™s hard for people to tell because there€™s no before/after point, no spot at which the characters are suddenly and inarguable a couple. The second half of series seven should be used in scriptwriting classes until the end of time as a perfect example of how to subtly build a romantic relationship, until by the end enough evidence has piled up that€™s it€™s difficult to doubt. Here's 8 reasons why the Eleventh Doctor and Clara Oswald might just be in love...
