Of course, not all the best Clara moments were good Clara moments. In the first part of the Series Eight finale Dark Water, Clara faces the worst moment of her life - the death of Danny Pink. And for the next few scenes we see her hold that grief in as she resigns herself to the fact that the love of her life is dead. All until the moment she reunites with the Doctor and enacts a plan to bring him back. Jenna Coleman delivers a powerhouse performance that is both gripping and uncomfortable to watch, Her grief over Danny brings out a ruthless side as she drugs the Doctor and locks them outside of the TARDIS on the edge of a volcano. "Bring him back!" she screams at the Doctor, throwing the TARDIS keys into the lava one by one as he refuses to change the laws of time. And as the last key falls in we are left wondering just how they will get out of this. Fortunately for them, the Doctor was onto her from the start - he was and can be just as ruthless - and it is with great relief that we realise it was all an illusion created to reveal her plan.
