It was during David Tennant's run as the Tenth Doctor that the kissing frenzy really took off. And in fairness who wouldn't want to kiss him. It's David Tennant. Steven Moffat was all too aware of this and decided to throw fun at it when Tennant returned for the 50th Anniversary Special.
During Day Of The Doctor, Ten finds himself getting snogged, quite a few times, by Elizabeth I and her Zygon doppelganger and eventually he even gets married to the Tudor Queen.
It's a fun call-back to the cliffhanger of The Shakespeare Code and the reactions from Eleven, The War Doctor and Clara are pretty amusing too. But truth be told it's a running gag that goes on a bit too long and for most fans and critics it's the only not great part of the special.
