Appear in: Legend of the Sea Devils.

Like their land-based cousins the Silurians, the Sea Devils suffer from a similarly underwhelming return in the NuWho era.

That said, their introduction is initially befitting of Chris Chibnall's "bank holiday action-adventure romp" description: the Chief Sea Devil breaks free from his statue prison, proceeds to slaughter an entire village, leaps ridiculously high aboard a flying pirate ship to reunite with his fellow Sea Devils, then calls upon a terrifyingly massive sea creature, the Hua-Shen, to locate the Keystone, a formidable gem with infinite powers.

Unfortunately, they go missing in action for a while after that, and their overall presence gets submerged within their own plan of claiming the Earth back by using the Keystone to turn it into a water world. It also doesn't help that the Chief Sea Devil is killed off somewhat anticlimactically, leaving the lack of a final showdown all the more disappointing.

The name's Colbourn, James - yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
