Doctor Who: EVERY NuWho Villain And Monster Ranked Worst To Best
150. Mr Clever
Appears in: Nightmare in Silver.
Cybermites hit the jackpot by infiltrating the Doctor's brilliant brain and incorporating him into the Cyberiad to create the ultimate Cyber-Planner: Mr Clever. Fortunately, the Doctor's still knocking around, so he proposes a winner-takes-all game of chess for his Time Lord mind. Even without full control, Mr Clever demonstrates its destructive capabilities when summoning an army of Cybermen.
But despite Matt Smith's excellent performance, the execution is underwhelming and in need of a few improvements to match the impressive high-stakes concept; live chess, for instance, would've definitely made things more interesting.
The episode's writer, Neil Gaiman, also voiced his own displeasure when comparing Nightmare in Silver to his other, significantly more well-received story, The Doctor's Wife.
