Doctor Who: EVERY Steven Moffat Episode Ranked Worst To Best

10. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang

Doctor Who Steven Moffat episodes ranked Eleventh Doctor Twelfth Doctor Weeping Angel

You could make an argument for several of the episodes in my top 20 to make it into the top ten, such is the strength of Moffat's back catalogue.

But we start the actual top ten with the fantastic The Pandorica Opens & The Big Bang, where the threads dropped throughout Matt Smith's debut series all weave together to reveal the nature of the mysterious cracks in time.

The twist that the Doctor himself is the most feared creature in the universe makes so much sense to the point that it's laughable few saw it coming, but what a twist it was. To have all the creatures who fear the Doctor gather in unity to defeat their greatest foe made the universe-ending stakes feel very very real – in Doctor Who we're constantly told that the universe is at risk, so to actually see it blow up was a true wow moment.

The Big Bang follows up with some of Moffat's finest time-travel plotting, and Matt Smith at the top of his game with his "gotcha" farewell to Amy, and his final bedtime story – not to mention his iconic Stonehenge speech in the previous episode.

A perfect end to a near-perfect series, and easily one of Moffat's best series finales.
