Doctor Who: Every Thirteenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

22. Arachnids In The UK

Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker Thirteenth Doctor Sacha Dhawan Master

This story is at least serviceable, despite its very negative reputation. The spider threat is interesting enough, and the effects are genuinely creepy. But it gets marked down significantly on two points.

Firstly, the absolutely cringeworthy inclusion of Trump stand-in Jack Robertson, who drags down the episode and offers no real criticism of his real-world counterpart beyond "orange man bad".

Secondly, the very iffy morals from the Doctor surrounding how to dispose of the spiders, suggesting that luring them into a suffocation chamber (using Stormzy, no less) is more humane than a quick death via gunshot.

You know the writers have dropped the ball when the Trump parallel comes out of the episode looking more reasonable than the Doctor.
