Doctor Who: Every Thirteenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
13. Rosa
Oh, how we wish we could put this episode higher up.
Rosa does so much right, including the superb casting of Vinette Robinson as Rosa Parks, and dares to dip its toes in waters scarcely touched in the show - but it falters significantly due to its weak villain.
Having the villain be a simple racist isn’t a bad idea at all, but Krasko himself is portrayed and written very poorly, and doesn’t have his ideology questioned in any significant way. This is a character who should be made out to be a complete fool, with the Doctor challenging his beliefs. Instead, Ryan essentially kills him, which is… not the best message?
It’s hard not to get emotional at Graham’s heartbreaking reaction to being part of the bus seat moment though - without a doubt the most affecting moment of a very sterile series.
