Doctor Who: Every Title Sequence Ranked From Worst To Best

4. The Eleventh Doctor (2010-2012)

After a title sequence spanning the first two Doctors of the rebooted era, it was time for new branding, and subsequently a new opening to take the stage. First appearing in 2010's The Eleventh Hour and remaining unchanged through Series 6 (apart from Arthur Darvill being added to the opening credits). It was the first time many viewers new to Doctor Who experienced a change this significant. As much as the theme tune and visuals have their own distinct style, it wasn't so removed from the Ninth and Tenth Doctor's openings that came before.

Come the first half of Series 7 however, this title sequence had a few tweaks. Gone were the metallic, stone-like credits at the beginning of the sequence, and in were simple 2D text titles with a wavy transition. The Doctor Who logo removed the 'DW' TARDIS from within it, electing to transition to it after the main 'Doctor Who' title (which itself had a different, ugly texture based on the episode about to be shown), and the entire thing was put beneath what looks like an Instagram filter. With Doctor Who being huge on social media at this point, it was as if the production team had decided to pre-filter the GIF potential before it ended up on Tumblr.

Though it started incredibly strong in Series 5 and 6, the Eleventh Doctor's title sequences would take a downward turn, especially come the second half of Series 7.
