In the far future, the inhabitants of Tarsus Six face a desperate struggle to evacuate their world before their sun, Tarsus Ultra, collapses into a cataclysmic spatial anomaly. When the Doctor navigates the TARDIS to a space station orbiting Tarsus Six, Ace assumes that he intends offer their assistance. But it soon becomes clear that the Doctor has an agenda of his own. With the TARDIS immobilised, Ace realises that their own lives are as much in danger as those of the fleeing inhabitants. The race is on to escape the destruction of Tarsus Six and the devastating shockwave that will follow, reaching out and destroying everything in its wake.
STARRING: Sophie Aldred (Ace), Ian Brooker (Captain OhOne) I was quite looking forward to this one, especially given the extreme dissatisfaction I had over the previous story in this series. I€™ve long been a fan of the Seventh Doctor and Ace, and any chance to have the characters together, even without both actors, is something I cherish. The story itself here is decent. Nothing to write home about, but it is acceptable. Basically Ace makes a good, noble choice that backfires on a large scale and she and the Doctor have to deal with it. I also liked the idea of a planetary-wide evacuation, and the notion that a group of extremists would rise up to try and stop it seems about accurate. But the audio as a whole failed to pop for me, and it€™s hard to say why. Aldred was quite good as Ace, and did a decent job as various other characters, including the Doctor (though as one of my friends said, her Scots accent didn€™t sound quite like the CORRECT Scots accent). Brooker does a good job in his role playing off of her. But€I dunno. Something here just didn€™t really work for me. It wasn€™t a bad audio, and compared with last month€™s excruciating experience, it was nearly a masterpiece, but it still felt like something was missing. Ultimately, I cannot recommend it as a stand-alone story, but if you€™ve heard the other ones in the series, you might as well take this one as well.
