Doctor Who: Ranking Every Regeneration From Worst To Best

10. The Fifth Doctor To The Sixth Doctor

Fifth Doctor Regeneration
BBC

Keeping things trippy, 1984's The Caves Of Androzani saw Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor exit the show. Much like Patrick Troughton's regeneration, multiple visages are seen rotating around the dying Doctor's face, with The Master centre, demanding the Doctor dies. Of course, the Doctor regenerates into a new form, and we're given a perfect first impression of this new Doctor.

"Doctor?""You're expecting someone else?""I- I- I-""That's three 'I's in one breath, makes you sound a rather egotistical young lady."

Regeneration can be traumatic for both a Time Lord and their companions, and things weren't great for Peri. Not only was she insulted by a fresh Doctor, he proceeded to strangle her soon after. This didn't bode well for viewers continuing their loyalty to the show, as warming to a new Doctor might take a while. For some, they simply never warmed to Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor.

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
