Doctor Who Retrospective Review - "The Unquiet Dead"

RoseDoctor Who The Unquiet Dead Edited 3 I love Rose in this episode. The result of her first two documented adventures with the Doctor is that she has hit her stride with audacity. She takes more initiative, participates more in the adventure and finally has the kind of snarky working relationship with the Doctor that is practically a mandatory part of the companion experience. In this episode, we start to see what I consider to be an integral part of Rose's character. We had a hint of it in the previous episode, when she was talking to our blue plumber. I believe that Rose, if she ever got out of her shopgirl persona, would have a wide range of careers open to her. She is, by her own confession, not the sharpest of people, but she is intuitive and empathetic. If Rose were famous, she might make a good UN Goodwill Ambassador. She's someone who does not have many medical skills or economic policies, but she would work very well as an advocate. She looks at an event and sees the people instead of the situation. I love that she is the one to stand up for Gwyneth and takes a stand for the rights of the dead. While I find it unlikely that Rose would be an ambassador, I could very easily picture her as a social worker or a school counselor. This is one of the reasons that I'm so looking forward to hearing what she's been up to in her parallel universe. Last time we checked, she'd spent a lot of time trying to break down the barrier to the universe where the Doctor can visit, but once that's resolved, I want to know what she's gotten up to.

That's Kaki pronounced like the pants, thank you very much, my family nickname and writing name. I am a Red Sox-loving, Doctor Who-quoting, Shaara-reading walking string quartet of a Mormon writer from Boston. I currently work 40 hours at a stressful desk job with a salary that lets me pick up and travel to places like Ireland or Philadelphia. I have no husband or kids, but I have five nephews to keep me entertained. When not writing, working or eating too much Indian food, I'm always looking for something new to learn, whether it's French or family history.
