Doctor Who Series 11: 10 Huge Questions After 'The Battle Of Ranskoor Av Kolos'

Doctor Who Series 11 Finale

Doctor Who will be back in a New Year’s Day special fittingly entitled Resolution. We wondered if the TARDIS team would all make it through the series alive. Not only are they back for the special, but they are also all signed up to series 12.

There were no clues as to where the second series will be taking our heroes, but a trailer for Resolution did promise an appearance from the most dangerous creature in the universe. Steven Moffat’s catchphrase was ‘the most dangerous … in the universe’, but it got used so much it lost much of its meaning. Given that Chibnall’s Doctor Who has been a much more low-key affair and that he has fulfilled his promise of no returning monsters, for once it’s worth taking note of the words.

Is resolution the full title, or could it be Resolution of the Daleks? When Graham asks the Doctor for the creature’s name, just look at her face. The trailer cuts off before she can answer, but she is clearly afraid. The Daleks would be the most likely candidate, but if so it’s been one of the series’ best kept secrets in years.

The Doctor speaks in the singular so is this like Robert Sherman’s Dalek, or is it a unique Dalek related creature we’ve not come across before? Alternatively, maybe it’s the Timeless Child. Or both. Whatever the answer, it does feel good talking about the Doctor’s most iconic foe once again. It might just be what this new series needs.
