Doctor Who: Series 13 Trailer Breakdown - 20 Things You Must See

5. Fully-Powered Weeping Angels

The last Angel-centric episode of Doctor Who was 2012's The Angels Take Manhattan. Like the Ood, they're long overdue for a proper, non-cameo return, so it's great to see them back in action once again.

These Angels appear to be fully juiced-up too, unlike some of the more crumbly statues we saw in The Time Of Angels and The Angels Take Manhattan. No need to drain the power from the Byzantium this time! These suckers are ready out the box.

Speaking of boxes, that looks like the TARDIS door on the right - after their failed attempt in Blink, are the Angels trying to nick the Doctor's ride all over again? Alternatively, it could just be a random door on a random house, considering that this shot is framed as though it's from Kevin McNally's point of view.

There's also that white cross in the top-left corner of the shot, which isn't in-your-face obvious, but the corner of your eye does pick up on it. Contrasting religious imagery with nightmarish monsters somehow makes the scene that little bit eerier.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
